Rubber Bit Lifter /Cheeker
These rubber bit lifters are most common in racing but work well in any equestrian sport. It is sometimes called an Australian Noseband. The rubber cheeker is designed to hold the bit high in the horse's mouth to prevent the horse from getting it's tongue over the bit. The design, with the large rubber rings at the bit end also helps preventing pinching from the bit rings. The lifter is attached to the bridle headpiece by using buckles designed for this purpose, unless the bridle is already pre-fitted with a lift holder.
Warming the rubber by either placing the cheeker in the sun or heated water will make it easier to fit on larger ringed bits.
