How Blundstone Boots Fit – Understanding UK, US & European Sizes

One of the most common questions we hear at Canterbury Saddlery is:

"What size Blundstones should I buy?"

It's a great question, because Blundstone sizing can be a little confusing at first.

Blundstone boots are manufactured using UK (Australian) sizing, while many New Zealand customers are more familiar with either US or European (EU) shoe sizes. To make things even more confusing, New Zealand retailers generally stock whole UK sizes only, whereas you may come across references to half sizes online.

Fortunately, once you understand how Blundstone sizing works, finding your perfect fit is surprisingly straightforward.

Blundstone boots use UK sizing

All genuine Blundstone boots are labelled using UK sizing.

If you're used to buying footwear in US or European sizes, we recommend checking the official Blundstone Size Guide before placing your order.

Official Blundstone NZ Size Guide:

AU/UK Size [1, 2, 3, 4] Foot Length (mm) EU Size US Men US Women
3 220 35.5 4 6
4 228 37 5 7
5 237 38 6 8
6 246 39 7 9
7 254 41 8 10
8 262 42 9 11
9 271 43 10 12
10 279 44 11 13
11 288 45 12 14
12 296 46 13 15

Why don't we stock half sizes?

This is probably the biggest point of confusion.

Many people assume that a half size is simply a boot that's halfway between two whole sizes.

That's not actually how Blundstone sizing works.

Blundstone half sizes are the same length as the corresponding whole size.

Instead, the half size provides a little more width and volume through the boot, particularly around the forefoot and instep.

For example:

  • UK 7
  • UK 7½

Both are effectively the same length.

The UK 7½ simply offers a roomier fit.

As Blundstone New Zealand supplies the whole-size range, Canterbury Saddlery stocks the complete range of whole sizes.

How should Blundstones fit?

When trying on a new pair of Blundstones, they should feel:

✔ Secure around your heel

✔ Firm (but not uncomfortable) over the instep

✔ Comfortable around your toes, with enough room to wiggle them

The premium leather will naturally soften and mould to your feet as you wear them, creating the famous Blundstone comfort that so many people love.

One thing they shouldn't feel is too short.

Unlike leather across the upper, boots do not stretch in length.

What if I'm between sizes?

If you're between sizes, there are a couple of simple options.

Many customers find that:

  • A thicker sock provides a slightly snugger fit.
  • An additional insole can help reduce volume inside the boot.

If you're unsure which way to go, we'd always recommend getting in touch before ordering - we're more than happy to help.
